  Destroying One's Faith

  the jws are always grumbling that former jws are trying to "destroy their faith" and that they have nothing nice to say about the men who write for the watchtower or their peculiar teachings.. but then---jws go to people's homes and try to convince them that they should stop:.

  praising jesus,.

  celebrating or honoring their lord and savior on his resurrection or on his birth,.

  I tell you that the majority of JW are no where near as tormenting as the non witnesses,

  I beg to differ with you. I had been helping keep a disfellowshipped JWs chat room open on AOL for years and we were called names, spied on, and harrassed by active JWs. Last week a JW SIGHNED HERSELF UP to my yahoo group JWApologetics. Right on the front page it says "this group is open to everyone. Active JWs, non active, and former JWs all our welcome.

  The first time she gets email that is not pro Watchtower she writes this and sends it 9 times filling everyones email before I knew about it, "UNSUBSCRIBE ME FROM THIS GROUP IMMEDIATELY! Apostates have NOTHING in common with me, nor I with them.
  
  "DO NOT BECOME UNEVENLY YOKED WITH UNBELIEVERS...WHAT SHARING DOES LIGHT HAVE WITH DARKNESS..." 2 Corinthians 6:14-16"

  She calls us apostates, unbelievers, and living in the dark. All the time all she needed to do was click on the "unsubscribe" link on the email. She had to make sure we all knew how righteous she was before she left the group. When my health was failing badly I was told to die now so I can maybe be resurrected, if I die at Armageddon it's too late for me. That's just a tiny piece of this hate filled Watchtower pie.

  How can I learn to more assertive?

  i think this is left over from dubdays, dunno.

  when i need to be assertive i fizzle out.

  I think that being a witness has a little to do with this for some of us. Think about it-we constantly had to justify those crazy beliefs, go to peoples doors and tell them stuff they didn't want to hear. . .speak in public when it is actually physically painful for some to do so---is it any wonder that we don't look forward to confrontation?

  Thank you everyone you are really helping me deal with this. Other people are going through such terrible sufferings, and here I am unable to do something as simple as this. I hope these boys are smart and come back to finish the job, my husband is taking pictures in the morning and will take them to small claims court if they don't. I feel so stupid to let this happen in the first place.

  He says they took advantage of a disabled women, oh that makes me feel great. I have a medical disability not a vision disability! I seen the job and pretended it was ok. JWdaughter I think growing up as a JW and holding in our true feelings causes problems for me to this day. You would think door to door crap would have made us more assertive not less.

  OK i'm getting tough. ...Bobbi that was brave! lol... You know people can be scarey! I think I just analyzed myself. This is the real root of it all. I have had some very bad and traumatic things happen to me when someone was violent and out of control. Dont wanna make people angry or bad things can happen....hhhmmmm

  Cried myself to sleep last night

  i was laying in bed and trying to drift off to sleep.

  all of a sudden i had a vision of my father building our dining room table.

  we moved when i was four and this was at our old house so i must have been pretty young.

  I think this is left over from dubdays, dunno. When I need to be assertive I fizzle out. My husband was furious when he came home. I hired 2 teenagers who advertised in the paper for yard work. They gave me a price of $180.00. I said ok, there was a lot of work that needed to be done.

  The yard in question is abour 3/4 of an acre. I went out to check and seen they were not getting the rocks. I pointed that out. Asked them to please get the rocks as we agreed. They mucked the corral but could have gotten more than they did, anyways..I basically paid $20 an hour for a crappy job. I knew it. I just couldn't tell them I would refuse to pay until they did the job right.

  Whats wrong with me!

  this may be covered some where in the archives here, but came across this today on the internet.. 90 year old anna bedford owner of one of the great camps of the adirondacks (preserve at green bay, 135 acres) dies and somehow the society becomes the owner.

  they sell for 2.250 million dollars in june of l988.. see the bottom of page 2. .

  JW School

  The one I am thinking of was near the one ways in Norwalk, it also closed down, I remember my parents saying that they wanted to send my sister and me there, but it turns out it was a school mostly for bad JW kids, seems that none of us can remember the names of the schools ha ha ha are we trying to block it out?

  What a small world. I lived on Pioneer Bld right at the Norwalk brder of Artesia and went to the Norwalk congo a few times. Studied with two very sweet older ladies. It was early 80s then, I never heard of a school there but my daughter was a baby so probably wouldn't been in the know with what they were doing with the older kids. I am trying now to start piecing together the jagged edges of my past. I remember fine from 4 to 8. That is when the Watchtower came in to my life. I have blocks of time that are just not there. People will tell me do you remember when ......... and sometimes with many hints I may, some stuff is still blocked. When your life is one nightmare after another, when you wake up you try to forget that aweful dream.

  S4, the name does sound familiar but my memory of that era is really bad. I'll send the names to my daughter. She still has some friends from the school. They are all either Christians now or out of the org.

  I gotta be honest, the education was very good. They used Saxon math for those of you that are familiar with textbooks. They did not use any WT literature in the school which was kinda wierd. You would think that they would. After I got out of the org. and explained why to the kids, (my poor daughter thought I had lost my mind) I put them in the Seventh Day Adventist Academy that was highly rated. They were not behind at all. The public schools were pretty bad we did try them but it was horrible. Both kids went on to college and do fine.

  The schools focus didn't seem to be to teach them JW doctrine, but to keep them away from "worldy" people.
